Walmart Marketplace Fulfillment for Seller-Fulfilled Orders

Walmart Marketplace fulfillment, when you ship the orders yourself, means Walmart grades you on every shipment. We pick, pack and ship your seller-fulfilled Walmart orders from our Fort Worth warehouse on ShipHero, and we also prep inventory for Walmart Fulfillment Services, so one stock pool can feed both.

A channel with its own scorecard

On a seller-fulfilled Walmart order you set the ship date and the delivery date, and Walmart checks both against what actually happened.

Walmart shows a shopper an expected delivery date, and the order carries an expected ship date behind it. Those two dates are what Walmart measures you on. A package that leaves late counts against your Late Shipment Rate. A package that arrives after the promised date counts against On-Time Delivery. A package without a valid tracking number counts against Valid Tracking Rate, and Walmart's standard for that one is strict.

So the work is partly about speed and mostly about accuracy. The handling time and shipping method you set in your Walmart seller account decide the dates, and the warehouse has to hit them with a tracking number that is real the first time. If the stock count is wrong, there is a fourth way to lose points: canceling an order you accepted for a unit that was not on the shelf.

At Marketplace Prep, Walmart seller-fulfilled orders run on the same ShipHero floor as the rest of our DTC fulfillment. We agree the ship window with you when the engagement is scoped, and we do not publish a blanket turnaround promise, because the honest window depends on your order profile.

What Walmart measures on these orders

These are Walmart's published standards for Marketplace sellers, measured on your seller account. They are Walmart's rules, not promises we make. The right-hand column is the part of each one a warehouse touches.

MetricWalmart's standardWhat the warehouse controls

Late Shipment Rate

Walmart's standard5% or below. An order shipped after its expected ship date counts as late.

What the warehouse controlsPicking, packing and handing the package to the carrier before the ship date the order carries.

On-Time Delivery Rate

Walmart's standard90% or above of orders delivered on or before the expected delivery date.

What the warehouse controlsShipping on the carrier service that matches the delivery date you promised.

Valid Tracking Rate

Walmart's standard99% or above of orders with valid tracking information provided.

What the warehouse controlsBuying the label in ShipHero so the carrier and tracking number come from the real shipment, never a hand-keyed number.

Cancellation Rate

Walmart's standard2% or below of orders canceled by the seller after Walmart sends them.

What the warehouse controlsAn accurate stock count across every channel, so Walmart does not send an order for a unit that already shipped elsewhere.

Walmart also tracks measures the warehouse does not own, such as Seller Response Rate, which covers how fast you answer customer messages. It publishes the current thresholds in Walmart Marketplace Learn and can change them, so check there before you plan around a number on any third-party page, this one included.

One stock pool, two ways out

Stock is received once in Fort Worth. You decide how much stays here for the Walmart orders you ship yourself and how much is prepped and sent on to Walmart's network.

Both paths start from the same shelf. The orders you ship yourself leave for shoppers, and the units you choose to prep leave for Walmart.

Pick, pack and ship

Walmart orders land in ShipHero through the channel connection, get picked against live inventory, and ship on a carrier label bought in ShipHero. Once the label is bought, the shipment and its tracking number go back to the Walmart order.

A ship window you set with us

The handling time and shipping method in your Walmart seller account decide the dates Walmart shows and measures. We agree in writing how fast orders leave the building, so the dates you promise are dates the warehouse can keep.

WFS prep

When part of your catalog goes into Walmart Fulfillment Services, we do the prep before it ships out: the same standard steps as our FBA prep, on the same per-unit tiers. Because stock is received once, the same units can go either way.

Bundles built as kits

A multipack sold on Walmart can be set up as a virtual kit in ShipHero, with availability worked out from the components on the shelf. The kit ships as one order line and draws the components down.

Returns back to the warehouse

Returns that come to us are received, checked for condition and restocked if sellable, with damaged units flagged for your decision. The process is covered in detail on our returns processing page.

A WhatsApp group for exceptions

Every client gets a dedicated WhatsApp group at onboarding. A bad address or a short pick gets answered in the thread, so a problem order does not sit while Walmart's clock runs.

Seller-fulfilled or WFS

They are two different ways to run the same Walmart listing. WFS is Walmart's own fulfillment program. Seller-fulfilled means the orders are yours to ship, which is where we come in. Plenty of catalogs use each where it suits.

Who this is built for

Walmart seller-fulfilled orders fit here when they sit beside other channels in a working ecommerce operation.

A fit

  • Brands that list on Walmart Marketplace and ship those orders themselves, alongside a Shopify store or Amazon merchant-fulfilled listings.
  • Sellers who want the same product to sell through seller-fulfilled orders and also go to WFS, with one receiving and one prep partner.
  • Catalogs where Walmart, Amazon and the store each use a different SKU for the same item and need one stock count.
  • Sellers watching their Walmart scorecard who want a person to message when an order goes sideways, not a ticket queue.
  • Brands shipping at least about 30 orders a month across their channels, with products that move.

How onboarding works

Four steps from the first call to the first Walmart order shipping out of Fort Worth.

01

Discovery call

We go through your channels, your Walmart handling time and shipping settings, and which units you want to ship yourself and which you plan to send to WFS. We say plainly whether the operation is one we should take.

02

Scoped agreement

The ship window, kits, inserts and returns handling are written into the agreement. Your prepaid wallet is funded before work begins, and your WhatsApp group is set up.

03

Connect, map and test

Your Walmart and store orders connect into ShipHero, channel SKUs are mapped to their master products, and the integration is tested before any live order runs through it.

04

Send inventory and go live

Inventory comes in to 1925 Golden Heights Rd, Suite 200 in Fort Worth. Once it is counted against the master products, seller-fulfilled Walmart orders start shipping, and any units bound for WFS are prepped from the same receipt.

Questions we get

Can you ship my Walmart Marketplace seller-fulfilled orders?

Yes. When you ship an order yourself instead of sending stock into Walmart's network, a 3PL can do the shipping for you. At Marketplace Prep your Walmart orders flow into ShipHero, are picked and packed in our Fort Worth warehouse, and ship on a carrier label bought in ShipHero, with the tracking number sent back to the Walmart order. The shipping method and handling time you set in your Walmart seller account are agreed with us before the first live order.

What does Walmart measure on seller-fulfilled orders?

Walmart's published Seller Performance Standards include an On-Time Delivery Rate of 90% or above, a Valid Tracking Rate of 99% or above, a Cancellation Rate of 2% or below and a Late Shipment Rate of 5% or below. Those are Walmart's rules, measured on your seller account, and Walmart publishes the current values in Walmart Marketplace Learn, so check there before you plan around a number on any third-party page. We do not promise those results. We control the warehouse part: shipping inside the window we agree with you, putting a valid tracking number on every package, and keeping the stock count accurate so an order is not canceled for a unit that was not on the shelf.

What is the difference between seller-fulfilled orders and WFS, and can you do both?

With seller-fulfilled orders you keep the inventory and ship each order yourself, which is the work we do for you. With Walmart Fulfillment Services, you send inventory to Walmart's fulfillment network and Walmart stores, packs and ships the orders. We handle both sides of that line: we ship seller-fulfilled Walmart orders from our warehouse, and we offer WFS prep, the labeling and packing work done before inventory goes to Walmart. Many sellers receive stock here once, send part of it on to Walmart through WFS and keep the rest on our shelves for the orders they ship themselves.

Do you enroll sellers in a Walmart fast-shipping badge or delivery program?

No. We ship standard seller-fulfilled Walmart orders and we do not run or enroll you in a Walmart delivery program or badge. If a badge on your listings is a requirement for your catalog, we are not the right fit for that part of it today. Your delivery promise on a listing comes from the shipping settings in your Walmart seller account, and we ship against what you set there.

Can Walmart, Amazon merchant-fulfilled and Shopify orders ship from the same inventory?

Yes. Each channel gives the same product its own SKU, so we keep the physical stock on one master product in ShipHero and map each channel SKU to it as a kit of one. A Walmart order, an Amazon merchant-fulfilled order and a Shopify order for the same item then draw down the same count. The channels also carry different performance targets, so we agree the ship window for each one separately instead of assuming one setting fits all of them.

How long will a Walmart order take to reach the shopper?

That depends on the carrier service chosen and the shopper's ZIP code, so we do not quote a single number. From our Fort Worth warehouse, UPS Ground and USPS Ground Advantage reach most of the U.S. in three business days or less by their published service standards, and USPS Priority Mail is two to three days across the lower 48. Those are carrier standards, not promises. Use the quote tool for a ZIP-level answer, and keep in mind that Walmart measures On-Time Delivery against the expected delivery date, so the service level you set should match the date you show shoppers.

What order volume do you take for Walmart orders?

We count volume in orders across every channel we ship for you, and there is no ceiling. The floor is about 30 orders a month, since we are a fulfillment operation and your products should be shipping, not sitting. Walmart orders can be your whole account or one channel beside others, and the first call covers your order profile and how much storage your catalog needs.

Shipping Walmart orders yourself? Let's scope it.

Tell us which channels you sell on, how many orders a month go out, and the handling time on your Walmart listings. We will tell you whether it fits and what the operation would look like. For a ZIP-level view of carrier transit, use the quote tool.
