BigCommerce Order Fulfillment, Fort Worth TX

BigCommerce fulfillment here means your store keeps selling and we do the physical work: each paid order syncs into ShipHero, we pick, pack and ship it from our Fort Worth warehouse, and the tracking number goes back to the order in your store. It suits merchants running one BigCommerce store or several storefronts, with or without Amazon and Walmart orders drawing on the same stock.

What BigCommerce hands off, and what it expects back

BigCommerce treats an order as open until a shipment with a tracking number is recorded against it, so the handoff only works if the tracking comes back to the right order.

A paid BigCommerce order starts in Awaiting Fulfillment. It leaves that state when a shipment is recorded on it: the order moves to Shipped, or to Partially Shipped when some items have gone out and others have not. A shipment carries the carrier tracking number, and your notification settings decide whether the customer is emailed.

That is the whole contract between your store and a warehouse. A 3PL that ships the box but lets the tracking number fail to reach the order leaves you with a customer asking where the package is and an order your dashboard still calls open. So the part worth checking in any provider is the return leg, not the pick.

Many BigCommerce merchants add a second layer: Multi-Storefront, where one store runs several storefronts off a shared catalog. Each storefront can have its own domain and look, but the catalog is shared, and so is the question of where the stock physically sits. At Marketplace Prep that answer is one place: ShipHero, in our warehouse, behind every storefront. This is the same DTC fulfillment we run for every channel, applied to your BigCommerce orders.

How a BigCommerce order runs here

The order goes down from your store, the work happens in the warehouse, and two things come back up: tracking on the order and a fresh stock count.

The loop ends in your store. The order is not finished until its tracking and the new stock count are back where your customers and your catalog can see them.

Orders in, without re-keying

Your BigCommerce store connects to ShipHero, and paid orders flow in as pick tickets. We never ask you to export a spreadsheet of orders. We confirm the connection with a test order before it goes live.

Tracking back to the order

Once the label is bought and the package ships, the tracking writes back to the order. A split shipment is a normal case in BigCommerce, so an order that goes out in two boxes can show as Partially Shipped until the second leaves.

Stock counts back to the store

Inventory counts live in ShipHero and flow back to your store, so what a shopper sees as available follows what is physically on our shelves, within the sync interval.

Several storefronts, one shelf

If a brand runs more than one storefront, we keep each product's stock on a single master record in ShipHero. An order from any storefront takes from it, and we scope any storefront-specific insert or packaging with you before it runs.

Bundles as virtual kits

A bundle in your catalog can be configured as a virtual kit in ShipHero, so its availability comes from its components and it ships as one order. For physical kit assembly, see kitting and bundling.

Returns and exceptions

Returns come back to our warehouse, get a condition check, and sellable units return to stock while damaged ones are flagged for your decision. More on that at ecommerce returns processing. Every client also gets a dedicated WhatsApp group for the orders that need a person.

One stock pool behind BigCommerce, Amazon and Walmart

A BigCommerce store rarely sells alone. When Amazon merchant-fulfilled orders or Walmart seller-fulfilled orders come out of the same units, the count has to be one count.

One unit left, two orders

Stock kept per channelYour store and an Amazon listing each think they own the last unit, and one order gets cancelled.

One pool in ShipHeroThe first order takes the unit, and the other channel drops to zero on its next sync.

A new shipment arrives

The general mechanics, master SKUs and channel SKUs set as kits, are on our multichannel fulfillment from one inventory page. For the Amazon side, see Amazon merchant-fulfilled order fulfillment.

Who this fits

BigCommerce merchants whose store is already selling and whose packing has outgrown the person doing it.

A good match

  • Merchants on BigCommerce who ship a steady flow of orders and want that work done in a warehouse with a person to message.
  • Brands running more than one storefront from a single BigCommerce store, with one product list behind them.
  • Sellers who also fulfill Amazon merchant-fulfilled or Walmart seller-fulfilled orders from the same units.
  • Stores moving from another 3PL or from in-house packing, with SKUs and packaging specs they can write down.
  • Merchants who can connect their store to ShipHero, since that connection is how orders reach us.

Moving your BigCommerce store here

Four steps from the first call to the first BigCommerce order shipping out of Fort Worth. If you are leaving another provider, the timing advice is on our switching 3PL providers page.

01

Discovery call

We go through your store, how many storefronts it runs, your SKU list, your bundles and your order profile, and we tell you plainly whether it is an operation we should take.

02

Agreement, wallet and WhatsApp group

A signed agreement, a funded prepaid wallet and a dedicated WhatsApp group for your team, with your packing specs written down. Nothing ships until the wallet is funded and the specs are on paper.

03

Connect the store and run a test order

Your BigCommerce store connects to ShipHero, and a test order runs through pick, pack and ship with the tracking checked on the order in your store.

04

First shipment, counts, go-live

The first shipment into Fort Worth is coordinated with you, and pallet or LTL deliveries are booked by appointment. We count it into ShipHero, you confirm the counts, and orders route once the stock is available.

BigCommerce fulfillment questions

How does a BigCommerce order reach your warehouse?

Your BigCommerce store connects to ShipHero, which is a requirement for DTC fulfillment with us, and each paid order lands there as a pick ticket. BigCommerce starts a paid order in Awaiting Fulfillment, and that is the point where we take over. Before go-live we run a test order from your store through pick, pack and ship, so a routing problem shows up on a test and not on a customer.

What does my BigCommerce store show once an order ships?

The tracking number goes back to the order. BigCommerce records a shipment against an order with a carrier tracking number, and the order status moves to Shipped, or to Partially Shipped when only some of its items have gone out. Whether the customer gets a shipping email, and what it says, follows your store's own notification settings.

Can several BigCommerce storefronts ship from one stock pool?

Yes. BigCommerce Multi-Storefront lets one store run several storefronts off a shared catalog, and on our side each product's physical stock sits in ShipHero once. An order from any storefront draws down that same stock. If one storefront needs a different insert or packaging from another, tell us on the discovery call and we scope it before it runs.

Can BigCommerce orders and Amazon or Walmart orders share one count?

They can. We fulfill Amazon merchant-fulfilled orders and Walmart Marketplace seller-fulfilled orders from the same ShipHero inventory as your BigCommerce orders, so the last unit is not promised twice. Each channel picks up the new count on its next inventory sync, which means counts converge within the sync interval, not at the same instant.

How do I move an existing BigCommerce store to Marketplace Prep?

Keep your current provider shipping until our warehouse has counted your stock and a test order has run. The order of events is a discovery call, a signed agreement, a funded prepaid wallet, a dedicated WhatsApp group, your specs documented and the first shipment coordinated. Your store's routing changes only after the stock is counted and available. The full sequence is on our switching 3PL providers page.

Is there a minimum order volume for BigCommerce fulfillment?

We work from a floor of about 30 orders a month, because the stock needs to be shipping and not just stored. DTC volume is counted in orders, not units, and there is no ceiling. A store with a few hundred orders a month and a store with a few thousand follow the same setup.

How long do BigCommerce orders take to reach customers?

Carrier published standards from our Fort Worth ZIP, 76177, put most of the U.S. at 3 business days or less by ground, and one day across most of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. Those are carrier standards and not promises. Use the quote tool for a ZIP-level answer, and see our page on shipping DTC orders nationwide from Texas.
